Adib Mazloom

I'm a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer — UCSD BS Aerospace Engineering, Cal Poly Pomona MBA — with hands-on ownership of hardware design, prototyping, and testing from concept through validation and production.

What sets me apart is the combination of deep technical capability and business fluency. I don't just design parts — I manage programs, make tradeoff decisions, drive timelines, and understand how engineering choices affect the bottom line. The MBA wasn't an exit from engineering; it was the weapon I added to it.

I'm a US citizen eligible for Government Security Clearance — opening doors into defense, aerospace, and advanced systems work that most engineers can't access.

Lead Mechanical Engineer
Own mechanical design, prototyping, and testing of 6+ concurrent hardware programs from concept through production release. Develop system architecture and packaging solutions balancing performance, durability, manufacturability, and reliability. Perform structural and thermal analysis using first principles and simulation tools to guide engineering decisions. Rapidly iterate hardware (10–20 iterations per program), reducing development cycle time by ~50%. Execute validation testing, root cause failure analysis, and data-driven design improvements — achieving a ~30% durability increase. Integrate sensors, electronics, and mechanical assemblies end-to-end.

Thermal Design & Test Engineering Intern
Embedded in the thermal engineering team of a high-performance chip company, contributing to real product programs from day one. Developed thermal models and ran analysis on high-performance electronic systems, then designed and executed physical test setups to validate those models against hardware. Closed the loop between simulation and reality — collecting and analyzing test data to improve model accuracy and system behavior. Drove a 35°C improvement in system thermal performance through simulation-driven design changes.

Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
Deliberately pursued business education to complement engineering depth. Built fluency in strategy, operations, finance, and leadership — enabling me to engage at every level of an organization, from the shop floor to the boardroom. The MBA is the differentiator that makes me a complete technical leader, not just a great engineer.

Autonomous Drone System + Software Projects
Designing and developing a modular drone platform focused on structural performance, system integration, and reliability. Leading airframe and propulsion subsystem design — motor integration, mounting structures, power delivery. Running trade studies across materials and configurations. Developed a functional V1 prototype and filed a provisional patent for the core drone architecture. Also building software tools (TrackTechPro, FireWatch) that bridge hardware workflows with modern data infrastructure.

Engineer + MBA = Rare

Most engineers can't speak business. Most MBAs can't build hardware. I do both — and I do both at a high level. This combination makes me an asset in any startup, growth-stage company, or advanced technical program where engineering decisions have real business consequences.

BUILT IN
THE GARAGE

Engineering isn't just what I do — it's how I think. On weekends you'll find me elbow-deep in an engine bay: full rebuilds, suspension overhauls, electrical diagnostics. I've never just driven cars — I take them apart and put them back together. That mindset is the same one I bring to every hardware program.

🔧
Full Engine Rebuilds
Not oil changes. Full teardowns, machining, and reassembly. I understand how things fail — which makes me better at designing things that don't.
⚙️
Suspension & Brakes
Hands-on with tolerances, fits, and fastener torque specs in the real world. When you drive it afterward, sloppy work isn't an option.
🔌
Electrical Diagnostics
Tracing faults, reading wiring diagrams, fixing what others gave up on. First-principles thinking applied to real systems under real conditions.
🛠️
Hands-On by Default
I'm not the engineer who hands off to a technician. I build, test, and troubleshoot the hardware myself — in the lab and in the garage.

I'm always open to new opportunities — whether that's a full-time engineering role, a startup co-founder conversation, a consulting engagement, or just a good conversation about building hard things.

If you're working on something challenging and need someone who can lead technical programs, build across hardware and software, and operate at startup pace — reach out.
